So I got my Makeup Monsters Cosmetics order in the mail last week. I basically peed my pants over how excited I was over this goop. I bought Redwood and Darkness Prevails, but this post is concerning the former.

Here's the link to MUMC's Redwood product page, but I'll also lay it out for yinz under the cut.
Makeup Monsters is an indie brand who work in small batches to ensure freshness n'at. They are vegan and cruelty-free. They often go out of stock, but you can find them on instagram and they're pretty great at announcing restocks. The shipping was fairly decent for me, coming from Washington state to Pennsylvania, it only took about a week. They have like, over thirty colors on the site, ranging from pretty pinky browny nudes to greens and blues and some sweet grays.
I placed my order within minutes of their restock on January 8th, which also happened to be their like, 1st Anniversary situation so I got special anniversary packaging (just the boxes, not the tubes themselves) and a cool sticker. It really is cute, the boxes especially. The tubes are short, squat little guys that hold 6 ml or .2 oz. and they have a basic style doe foot applicator.
Redwood is described as a brown with deep red undertones, which is pretty spot on. The swatches on the page are a bit brighter than what I'm getting on my lips/in the tube. It pulls more brown in real life, especially on my lips. Swatches on the site not being incredibly accurate is the most common issue I read about this company, but I took the time to look up instagram pictures and youtube videos of the shades I wanted so I could see them on "real people" so I'm honestly not disappointed. (I highly recommend finding ~real people~ swatches before buying practically any cosmetic.) For reference, these pictures of mine are unedited and taken in natural light outdoors, which happens to be incredibly overcast today. I also only do one layer, as I've found these lipsticks to be fully opaque in one go, without being streaky.

They also dry within a minute or so to a matte finish.
The website specifically states that you should definitely hydrate and exfoliate your lips before wearing this. My lips are perpetually dry (because I'm a dummy and don't drink enough water, whoops) so I did what I could. I've worn this one for hours previous to today and it never felt drying. It does have a slightly tacky feel when my lips touch each other but to touch them with my fingers, it feels almost like... rubberized? Like NARS packaging or the top of a NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream tube? Soft but with a bit of grip. Very strange but I'm okay with it. They wear very comfortably. The only noticeable issue I had was after eating some pizza it felt a little chunky on the inner part of my lips, boohoo cry me a river. This also reapplied over top very nicely without getting all cakey-chunkarific.
So one of the big questions with liquid lipsticks is how transfer proof they are. Redwood is like an 8/10 transfer wise for me. It won't come off at all with just a quick smooch on my kid's head but if I like, smush my mouth into the back of my hand it leaves a "ghost print" on my hand without really doing anything to the lipstick. So, I guess don't smush your mouth on stuff?
Overall, I'm super hyped on this old blood colored liquid lipstick. It feels as close to nothing on my lips as it's gonna get and it's pretty no-fuss which, for a messy dirt girl like me, is fantastic. I did my research on liquid to mattes and I'm sure glad I did.
They cost about $16 per lipstick + $5ish for shipping and you get .2 oz/6ml of product. For reference, Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks are $18/lipstick for .19 oz., Colourpop Ultra Mattes are $6/lipstick for .11 oz. and Lime Crime's website lists their Velvetines as being $20/lipstick with a Net Wt. of .088 fl oz/2.6ml.
Cool, so there's a long ass review anyone who stumbles across this. Darkness Prevails review will probably follow. If you do happen to have any questions or comments, hit me up, I can obviously talk about makeups all day. Here's some vanity for you.
